Choose your level

Beginner - studied less than 1 year
Advanced Beginner - studied 1-2 years
Novice - studied 3-4 years
Prizewinner - studied 5+ years
Preliminary Master - Must be earned by previously placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in Prizewinner level.
Master - Must be earned by previously placing 1st in Preliminary Master level.

Will you need an accompanist?

If your accompanist can not be with you on competition day, you may use one of our highly skilled pianists. This request can be indicated on the registration form. After you register, you will receive contact information for your accompanist so that you can set up a rehearsal time at the event.

Where are the audition rooms/registration located? They are located inside of the Rosen Shingle Creek Convention Center. The exact names will be posted very soon.
How early should I arrive before my audition? - You should plan on arriving early enough to attend all the workshops so that you get the full benefit of growth and learning that the day offers! When you arrive, check in at the registration desk approximately 1 hour before your audition time. You should be at the door of your audition room 10 minutes prior to your time.
Is there a memorization requirement? Yes! All solo entries must be memorized. Ensembles may use music.
Do I need to sign up for workshops? No...your registration includes all classes. The only reason we ask for registration is so we know how many to expect. All are welcome!
Do I need to provide the judge with a copy of my music? Yes. Original score or printed from the internet.
Parking on competition day at the Rosen Shingle Creek is $18/day (visitors) or $9/day (hotel guests) for self-parking.
Is it ok to sing a broadway song?
- We encourage all contestants to stick with traditional, classical or sacred repertoire. We love many types of music; however, this is the best way to sharpen your musical skills. It will give you the ability and talent you need to perform many types of music to a higher standard.
What is the time limit for my audition?
- Beginner, advanced beginner and novice levels have a 4 minute performance time limit. Prizewinner and above have a 7 minute performance time limit.
What type of music should I choose?
- Sacred & classical repertoire as stated in the question above is best for growing your skills and developing proper technique. These skills can be used to perform any type of music with excellence.
Why do I need to join FPEA in order to enter?
- The Sacred Music Florida Competition is sponsored by and made possible by the FPEA (Florida Parent Educator Association) . You will receive their Connect magazine and have access to countless educational resources as a member. The Sacred Music Florida Competition is a part of their annual convention which is the largest homeschool convention in the world for many years running. I hope you will consider registering for this convention as well and discover over 500 educational resource vendors, meet authors, and attend classes to learn about concepts and skills that can help you get the most out of your child(ren)’s education. Even if you do not homeschool, this conference is a vast wealth of information for you as a parent.
When will we know our audition time?
- Your audition time will be assigned a few days after the registration deadline.
What do I win?
- You will receive a gold medals for superior ratings, silver medals for excellent, and bronze medals for good ratings. We also have trophies for those who place in each level.
What should we wear for auditions?
- Girls: dresses or Sunday best equivalent
- Boys: dress pants, jacket, tie
May I use a track for my vocal audition?
- Live accompaniment is preferred; however, there will be sound equipment available should you decide to use a track.
Will there be a mic for my vocal audition?
- There will be no mic used for vocal auditions. The judges are interested in hearing your natural voice.
